Congregation Amchah
Dedicated to serving all with Warmth and Spirituality

       Rabbi's Letter...

There are many reasons to join a synagogue.  For some it may be the religious services on Shabbos, for others the holiday observances, or perhaps the opportunity for social interaction and the sense of community.  In addition, many find value in hearing the familiar chants of the liturgy or words of comfort or inspiration by the rabbi.  These are all good reasons, indeed these are all reasons why I personally have always chosen to be active in every Jewish community in which I have lived.

What I would like to suggest to you at this time however is one more reason, per
haps the most important reason of all in today’s world.  That reason is for the sake of the children - our children and G-d willing, our future grandchildren.  I believe that it is imperative that we support synagogues today just as our parents did in their day.  Call it our investment in the future just as they invested in our future.

Who among us has not "qvelled" as our little ones open the Ark for the Torah Service?  Who has not beamed with pride as our younger members are called to the bima to read for us on Shabbos?  Who has not felt joy as our Bar and Bat Mitzvah students are called to the Torah for the
first time and then returned to participate in the services after their Bar or Bat Mitzvah?  This can be the legacy that you leave by helping to support the synagogue and its programs.

I would like to thank those of you who have made the decision to take an active role by becoming participating members of Congregation Amchah. If you have not yet made that commitment, please consider doing so. If you have any questions or comments please call me.  In the meantime, be well and may G-d bless you.
